Nintendo’s Latest Pikmin Announcements Have Me Curious

Pikmin has such a strange little charm: tiny creatures, oversized everyday objects, and a lot more planning than their cute faces might suggest. Nintendo’s latest Pikmin Day announcements give that world a few more ways to pull us in, from a Switch 2 release to new adventures in Pikmin Bloom.

The part that interests me most is how different these updates feel from one another. There’s something for players who like a carefully planned challenge, something for the walking app, and something to enjoy without picking up a controller at all.

November 1 is officially Pikmin Day

Nintendo has named November 1 Pikmin Day. The date’s three ones are a nod to the original Red, Blue, and Yellow Pikmin standing together. It’s a small detail, but a sweet way to give the series its own annual celebration.

Pikmin 4 is coming to Switch 2 with Dandori Academy

Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy launches November 12, 2026. This enhanced edition adds voice commands for Oatchi through the console’s built-in microphone, along with Dandori Academy’s timed treasure-collecting challenges.

Planning is the point here: choosing your helpers, working out a route, and making better use of the time available. I like the appeal of a challenge where a smarter plan can be just as satisfying as faster reactions.

A free demo announced for November 2 includes the opening Sun-Speckled Terrace area and two Dandori Academy stages. You can find it through Nintendo’s Pikmin Day Direct page, which also has the Treehouse gameplay presentation.

Secret Caves are coming to Pikmin Bloom this winter

Pikmin Bloom is getting Secret Caves this winter. Cave maps may arrive with postcards, opening adventures where Pikmin explore, battle creatures, and collect treasures for a new collection. Exams in Dandori Academy will also offer a way to earn special in-app cave maps.

That sounds like an interesting extra reason to check in on the app. I’m curious about how these adventures will fit alongside its walking routine, especially with the connection between the phone app and the console game.

Hello! Pikmin brings the series into short movies

Hello! Pikmin is a new ongoing short-movie series made with Nintendo Pictures. The shorts are coming to Nintendo Today! and other Nintendo channels, with monthly videos planned from December.

I’m glad there’s room for something this playful alongside the game updates. The appeal of Pikmin isn’t only in managing a squad; their odd little world has plenty of personality on its own. The official Direct transcript covers the release plans.

Pikmin Bloom is also celebrating five years

There’s another celebration running throughout November: Pikmin Bloom’s fifth anniversary event lasts from November 1–30, 2026, in local time. It introduces Toy Jewelry Decor Pikmin, with Flower Box and Cupcake anniversary Decor Pikmin returning too.

If collecting Decor Pikmin is your favorite part of Bloom, the official anniversary announcement has the mission and reward details. I like that the celebration gives returning players something familiar alongside a new set to work toward.
