The April 16 update was a big one. Alongside the console Marketplace launch, there’s a lot of other stuff in this patch worth knowing about, from autonomy fixes the community has been asking about for ages to some long-standing bugs finally getting sorted.
Autonomy Fixes
This is probably the most talked about part of the update for PC and Mac players. Sim autonomy has been a frustration for a while, and this patch tackles a few of the biggest complaints.
Sims will now prefer talking to Sims they already know rather than constantly going up to strangers on the lot. Excessive flirting has also been toned down, which is a relief if you’ve ever had your Sims randomly start flirting with everyone at a party unprompted.
Phones and Computers
Two new preferences have been added: Likes Phones, Dislikes Phones, Likes Computers, and Dislikes Computers. If you give your Sim the Dislikes option they will never autonomously pick up their phone or sit at the computer again. If you don’t set a preference, there’s now a cooldown after each use so they won’t just loop the same behavior all day.
- Phones: 6 Sim hour cooldown
- Computers: half a Sim day cooldown
Other Activity Cooldowns
A bunch of other activities got cooldowns added too. If your Sims had a habit of obsessively doing one thing on repeat, this should help:
- Swimming
- Dancing
- Violin and Guitar
- Chess
- Yoga
- Mixing drinks
- Push-ups, sit-ups, and stretches
- And a few more depending on which packs you have
Top 5 Community Bug Fixes
These are the five fixes that got the most votes from players:
1. Eye Blinking Sims should now show fully closed eyes during most interactions. Sounds small but has apparently been broken for a while.
2. Prom is Back (High School Years) It was disappearing from calendars entirely and Sims couldn’t attend. Fixed now for both new and existing saves. Prom goals not completing was also fixed alongside this.
3. Pet and Horse Data Loss (Cats and Dogs, Horse Ranch) Pet and horse data was being lost in premade households. Won’t be retroactively fixed for saves where it already happened, but it won’t happen going forward in new saves.
4. Sims Socializing with Strangers Sims will now generally prefer talking to familiar Sims over strangers, which ties into the broader autonomy changes above.
5. Animal Shed Fix (Cottage Living) Animals in the Animal Shed can now be assigned after moving to a new lot without getting stuck in inventory. Also fixed for saves where animals were already stuck.
Gallery Updates
The Gallery got some improvements too. There’s a new Maker Pack filter when browsing so you can choose to include or exclude content that uses Maker Packs. The Uses Items from These Packs section now also correctly shows which Maker Pack was used in a creation, which is handy if you want to know what you’d need to download to use something in your game.
Other Fixes Worth Mentioning
- Sims with the Unflirty trait will no longer get the ick from being hugged
- Flowers getting stuck midair while making a flower arrangement is fixed (Seasons)
- The Family Tree in Royalty and Legacy had an issue causing wrong connections and overlapping, now sorted
- Animals in sheds and coops were being duplicated when moved in and out of inventory, also fixed
- There’s a big batch of CAS and Build Mode sorting fixes too, mostly items being in the wrong category or showing up for the wrong frame
