Tutorial: How to Rename a World in The Sims 4

Want your custom version of Tartosa to be called Simtorini in-game? You can! This method allows you to change the name of any existing world as it appears in the Sims 4 UI. Perfect for save creators, storytellers, or world rebuilders.

Here’s how to do it — directly inside your .save file — using Sims 4 Studio.

⚠️ This requires Sims 4 Studio and basic knowledge of creating .package files.

🧰 What You’ll Need

  • Sims 4 Studio
  • A save file you want to edit (found in: Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > saves)
  • Optional: Make a backup of your save before starting

🛠 Step-by-Step Tutorial

1. Open Sims 4 Studio

Launch the program.

2. Open the Save File

Click and on My Projects... and locate your desired .save file (e.g., Slot_00000002.save).

3. Find Save Game Data

Find the entry labeled Save Game Data in Warehouse tab.

4. Locate the neighborhoods Field

On the right side, scroll until you see neighborhoods.
Click the blue “Edit Items…” button.

✏️ Edit the World Name and Description

5. Find the World You Want to Rename

A list of all installed worlds will appear in the left column.

In this case, I am using Granite Falls (0119147DEFF92750)

6. Rename the World

Update the “name” field from Granite Falls to your custom name, like:

Simtorini

7. Add a Custom Description

In the “description” field, enter a new world description that fits your theme.

For example:

Simtorini is a picturesque island paradise, famous for its whitewashed buildings, breathtaking cliffside views, and vibrant local culture — a dreamy escape where your Sims can relax, explore charming plazas, and soak in endless sunshine.

8. Click Save

Click the Save button in the edit window, then click Save again in the bottom-right corner of Sims 4 Studio.

✅ All Done!

Now launch The Sims 4 and load the save you edited. The new name and description will show up when you view that world in Manage Worlds — just like any official world.

💡 Notes

  • This method is fully reversible by opening the save and changing the name back.
  • You can rename any world using this same method — like changing Tartosa to Simtorini, or Willow Creek to Riverhaven.
  • You can also reverse this change by restoring the backup save you created at the beginning of this tutorial.
